Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of www.renewchem.eu (the "Website"), the official website of the RenewChem project. By accessing or using the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Website.

1. About the Website and the project

RenewChem is an Innovation Flagship Action co-funded by the European Union through the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) under Grant Agreement No. 101291992. The project brings together an industrial consortium working to demonstrate the production of bio-based long-chain alcohols from renewable ethanol at industrial scale.

The Website is maintained on behalf of the consortium by Magfi, which leads Work Package 5 (Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation).

The Website exists to inform the public, the scientific community, industry and policymakers about the project, its objectives, its progress and its results. It is an information and dissemination channel. It is not a commercial platform, it does not sell products or services, and nothing on it constitutes an offer to contract.

2. Acceptance and changes to these Terms

Your use of the Website constitutes acceptance of these Terms as they appear at the time of use. We may amend them at any time, for example to reflect changes in the Website, in project arrangements, or in applicable law. Amended Terms take effect when published on this page, and the date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of the Website after a change constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

3. Permitted use

You may access and use the Website for lawful purposes, including reading, consulting, downloading and printing content for personal, educational, research, journalistic or professional use.

You agree not to:

  • use the Website in any way that breaches applicable law or regulation;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, the server on which it is stored, or any connected server, computer or database;
  • introduce viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful;
  • attack the Website by means of a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of-service attack;
  • use automated systems, including robots, scrapers or spiders, in a manner that sends more requests to the Website than a human could reasonably produce in the same period, or that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure;
  • reproduce, duplicate, copy, resell or otherwise exploit the Website or its content for a commercial purpose without our written permission;
  • remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice;
  • present the content of the Website in a way that is misleading, distorted, taken out of context, or that suggests an endorsement, affiliation or approval that does not exist.

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the Website, without notice, where we consider that these Terms have been breached.

4. Intellectual property

4.1 Content of the Website

Unless stated otherwise, the content published on the Website — including text, graphics, diagrams, illustrations, photographs, video, layout and design — is owned by the members of the RenewChem consortium or licensed to them, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

4.2 Reuse of project results

Public deliverables, scientific publications and other project results made available on the Website may be subject to specific licensing terms, in line with the open access obligations set out in the Grant Agreement. Where such a licence applies, it is stated on or within the document itself, and the terms of that licence govern the reuse of that document.

Where no specific licence is stated, material from the Website may be reproduced for non-commercial informational, educational or research purposes provided that the source is acknowledged as follows: "Source: RenewChem project, Grant Agreement No. 101291992, www.renewchem.eu". Any other use, including any commercial use, requires prior written permission.

4.3 Names, logos and trademarks

The RenewChem name and logo, the names and logos of the consortium partners, the emblem of the European Union, and the logos of the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking and the Bio-based Industries Consortium are protected. They may not be used, reproduced or modified without the prior written consent of the relevant rights holder, except where such use is expressly permitted by the applicable visual identity rules.

Reproduction of the European Union emblem is subject to the rules published by the European Commission. Use of the emblem does not confer any right to claim endorsement by the European Union.

4.4 Third-party material

Some material on the Website, including photographs and video, is licensed from third parties. Such material remains the property of its respective owners and may not be extracted from the Website or reused separately.

5. Accuracy of information and disclaimer

The Website presents information about a research and innovation project that is ongoing. Results, figures, timelines and technical descriptions reflect the state of knowledge at the time of publication and may change as the project progresses. Content is provided for general information only.

While we take reasonable care to ensure that the information published is accurate and up to date, we make no representation or warranty, express or implied, as to its completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability. Any reliance you place on such information is strictly at your own risk.

Nothing on the Website constitutes technical, engineering, financial, investment, legal or professional advice, and it should not be relied upon as such. Before acting on any information published here, you should obtain appropriate independent advice.

The Website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that access will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the Website or the server that makes it available are free of viruses or other harmful components.

6. European Union disclaimer

7. Links to and from other websites

The Website contains links to websites operated by third parties, including consortium partners, the European Union and the CBE JU, scientific repositories such as Zenodo, and social media platforms. These links are provided for convenience and for further information.

We have no control over the content of those websites and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage arising from their use. The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement of the linked site or of its operator.

You may link to the home page of the Website provided that you do so in a way that is fair and lawful and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. You must not establish a link in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement where none exists, and you must not frame the Website on any other site without our prior written consent.

8. Embedded video and third-party services

The Website includes video content hosted on YouTube, a service operated by Google Ireland Limited. When you play an embedded video, your interaction is also subject to Google's terms of service and privacy policy, over which we have no control. 9. Material you send us

If you contact us through the form on the Website or by email, you are responsible for the content of your message. You must not send material that is unlawful, defamatory, offensive, infringing of third-party rights, or that contains confidential information you are not entitled to disclose.

However, messages sent over the internet are not necessarily secure, and we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of material sent to us in this way. Please do not use the contact form to send sensitive or commercially confidential information.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither the Website operator, nor the members of the RenewChem consortium, nor the European Union or the CBE JU, shall be liable for any loss or damage — whether direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential — arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, the Website or any content on it. This includes, without limitation, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, business interruption, or loss of anticipated savings.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Availability of the Website

We aim to keep the Website available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Access may be suspended, withdrawn or restricted temporarily and without notice, in particular for maintenance, updates or technical reasons. We may also change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Website at any time.

12. Duration and archiving

The Website is maintained for the duration of the project and for the period afterwards required under the Grant Agreement. Public deliverables and publications are additionally deposited in Zenodo and, where applicable, in the European Open Science Cloud and OpenAIRE, so that project results remain accessible and citable independently of the Website.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms, their subject matter and their formation are governed by the laws of Malta. The courts of Malta shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you may have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.

15. Contact

For any question regarding these Terms, please write to info@renewchem.eu, or use the form on the Contact page.
